Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the last five grands prix.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from his teammate by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to crash, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before sliding over the escape zone, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho corner leading to the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th place, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber third fastest, over half a second slower than Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
