This Satirical Thriller
Director Coralie Fargeat's unflinching satire tackles the demanding standards for women's appearance along with the perceived horrors of growing older. The veteran actress delivers an inspired portrayal playing Elisabeth, a mature celebrity forced into starring in an aerobics show on television. Forced aside by her unscrupulous employer Harvey, she seeks out an enigmatic and horrifying treatment called this experimental method. This generates a younger clone portrayed by Margaret Qualley, leading to a steadily more parasitic dynamic among both women. October 17th, Paramount Plus
The Woman in Cabin 10 Film

Presence
Steven Soderbergh pushes his film-making abilities with this innovative supernatural story captured wholly from the viewpoint of a ghost. As a family including mother Rebekah plus Callina Liang as Chloe settles into their recent residence, the lens – AKA the Presence – tracks their movements. The daughter appears aware of the ghostly being, and it looks like defensive toward her. However, the motive remains? This is an entertaining concept that doesn't outstay its welcome, with a twist you might not see coming. October 11th, multiple showings, Sky Cinema Premiere

The Black Phone
Scott Derrickson's contained scarefest remains effective without requiring a sequel. Taking place in 1970s Colorado, a series of disappearances has left the children anxious. After Finney is taken by “the Grabber” and imprisoned in a dungeon, he dreads a terrible outcome. However, the non-functional line in the room continues to ring, with spooky callers offering help, as the prescient dreams of his sister Gwen might rescue him. A solid creepfest. October 11th, late evening, Film4
The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the struggle between faith and wealth, it's a knockout win for materialism in Michael Showalter's wonderfully garish biopic of the disgraced TV preacher plus her lawbreaking partner. Garfield acts as the greedy Jim, who states initially, claiming divine approval for wealth. The couple set about capitalizing on the people's spiritual convictions. It's a riot of poor styling, overdone appearance and hypocrisy, however Chastain succeeds to depict the real-life figure in a likable light. Next Tuesday, late night, the Film4 channel
